Fancy a snog Jay Jay?

by petprojectmallorca

Jay Jay with Dogs For U volunteer Shan. Photo credit Sheridan ConnisbeeJay Jay is a high energy bundle who likes a bit of a snog with his humans! He is around eight months old, a male German Shepherd mix, with a happy and friendly nature and bags of energy.  He came into the care of Dogs For U in March with a bad cough but he´s now healthy and happy, neutered and vaccinated, and looking for his forever family, or a foster family to care for him temporarily.  He´ll benefit most in a home with people who are just like him – active, kind, cuddly kissers enjoying plenty of company, happy to be outdoors running and walking – oh, and he fancies himself as a bit of gardener, happy to rearrange the lawn or flower beds if he hasn´t got Jay Jay with Dogs For U volunteer Billie. Photo credit Sheridan Connisbeeanything better to do!!  Yes, he´s a normal mischievous puppy, very intelligent and receptive to training, and he gets on well with other dogs big and small.  Jay Jay will be an all-round good family dog with the right people to guide him. Esporles volunteers needed!

There is a “no kill” dog shelter in Esporles where they take in rescue and care for dogs until they are able to find them homes.  But they constantly have a full house being that there is always another dog to rescue, as another gets a home.  They are very short on “roll your sleeves up” volunteers.  People wh want to clean up, feed and give love to all the dogs.  Certainly they need help walking them too, but at the moment they are desperate for help with the nitty gritty on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday mornings.  You can find more information here or contact 680455922 or 617 60 50 17 and tell them you want to lend a hand.

Kittens continue . . .

If you are interested to adopt a kitten, and there are plenty around at the moment, get in touch with your local shelter as they will help you with the process of making sure you have a healthy animal that is ready to start their new life with a new family. You can find a list of the shelters on the Pet Project website.

The high winds last week put one of our animal rescue centres, Dogs For U, into quite a tricky position. The extreme weather destroyed some of the shelters and made the occupants homeless. Temporary homes were found for the animals but it has gone to highlight that the search for permanent homes has to go on.  lotte 1Lotte, pictured, is described as a “Gold medallist at Fetch!” Lotte is a very lovable a mid-sized mix, and is urgently seeking a family to love. She is best described as fun on legs, with a fixation! She loves nothing better than to fetch a ball which is actually harder than it sounds for this lovely lady. One of her eyes gazes permanently in the wrong direction but funny looks and humour aside, she has adjusted to the condition and compensates admirably. She is way up there in the Hall of Fame when it comes to running after balls and catching them. And what´s more, tempt her with a ball, she´s putty in your hands, and will do anything for you. She´s a very kind and happy dog, good with people and other dogs. The team at DFU  think she´ll fit in anywhere where there´s a ball, a bowl, and a bit of human kindness. You can contact Sheridan by email ( or by phone on 637 242 228.
